On September 11–12, the QazCloud analytics team took part in the annual cyber exercises organized by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center (NCCIB) under the GTS.
The format of the exercises was CTF (Capture The Flag) — a 36-hour nonstop competition where specialists immersed themselves in real incident scenarios. Participants had to detect, analyze, and eliminate security events using Elasticsearch (an open-source solution for working with logs and events). Each solution was scored from 250 to 1000 points.
Participation in such exercises requires high adaptability, as the work is performed in a different system. At the same time, the specialists continued to carry out their priority tasks — monitoring client systems and combining ongoing operational activities with the competition.
Result: 26,500 points out of a possible 30,250 — a performance that placed our team among the strongest in Kazakhstan out of 24 participating teams.
“For us, such exercises are not only a test of our professional skills but also an opportunity to experience true teamwork. We supported each other and worked as a single organism. This is very motivating,” the team members noted.
The exercises demonstrated not only a high level of professionalism but also the strong coordination of our analysts. We are confident that the experience gained will serve as a foundation for further growth and allow us to handle professional tasks even more effectively.
